Three poems were selected for I Am 20 People: A Third Anthology from the Poetry School edited by Mimi Khalvati and Stephen Knight. Here's one of them.
The Beach at
Clovelly

Although Melissa
dropped
her birthday cake in
a strop
it didn’t matter
because we’d had
such fun
walking up cliffs
with the wind on our
faces.
Wavey-Davey brewed tea
on his camping stove
and everyone
gathered round him
as if he were a
bonfire.
We drank like
Vikings
squeezing red wine
out of a silver
bladder,
courtesy of Larry
who retrieved a dead
pheasant
from a tunnel in the
rocks.
Manda wanted to look
like
Marianne Faithfull
in Girl on a Motorcycle
- and she did.
Gary filmed
everything on his Super 8
while Jean strode
about in a hat.
People took photos
of people taking
photos.
Bim was quiet.
The tide was coming
in.
